Why Do You Need to Use PNG Image Format in Your Website Creation?
The benefits of incorporating PNG images in website designing over the different formats like GIF and JPEG; the file format works well if you need to make better and efficient web graphics that will entice your consumersThe PNG file format was introduced a few years back; it was put forth in the market in 1995/96 to meet the deficiencies of the popular GIF file format. However, it failed to create ripples because the the browsers of the time could not offer support to the state of the art features of PNG so web designers and makers were forced to incorporate it sparingly. One of the main hurdles that marred the features of PNG was with Microsoft Internet Explorer which was one of the most popular browsers of that period; IE had limited space for PNG support which equated to the fact that the format could only be used in limited capacity. Then, the scene metamorphosed after the availability of IE7; this fresh browser from Microsoft has proved immensely useful in increasing increasing the usability of PNGs. So here is why at three reasons why PNG is by far the most useful image formats to be introduced so far:
It is possible to create transparent images or alpha transparency: When you compare PNG with GIF, will notice that A definitive difference in the two formats is that you you will be restricted to saving any odd color transparently through the use of GIF this simply means that you can get the color whether opaque or transparent with nothing in betweenbut when you use PNG, you get a serious feature over GIF; because the format supports semi transparent pixels. This feature gives you the ability to save a PNG file with a soft drop shadow and then use it against a background of your choice. The Image can also be used as a background with gradient or a water mark. The format lets you incorporate the slow fading of hues from completely opaque to see through, and hence you will be able to view the webpage that lies in the background
They look spectacular: It is a well known fact that PNG images give you extreme flexibility also; there are several other benefits to including this format. For example, if you choose a JPG image, you lose a part of the data on the original file whenever the file is saved, so in time, you will be able to view a distinct deterioration in the quality of the media. Even though, this problem has now been sorted in the image format and you will be able to store the pictures without sacrificing any data, GIF has a highly restrictive 256 color palette, which makes it quite useless if you want to store a snap shot. But, with PNG, you could get the best attributes of the two file types; you get a full color display like the one used in JPEG file type and it also provides managed color palette a la GIF files. Also the storage of the image is sans loss so the image stays put regardless of how many time you save it.
PNG allows for self optimization: One of the hurdles that web programmers face frequently is the fact that the brightness and the contrast ratio of the screen has to be regulated to see the images appropriately; this happens due to various Gamma setting used in monitors from different vendors. Gamma setting is a technology incorporated to scatter the the light across the screen. However, various operating systems use a variety of Gamma settings. Therefore, a picture that is color corrected for Windows may not look right on a Mac. Again, in this scenario the innovative PNG picture format can prove useful, in PNG, you can save the pictures with a built in Gamma correction so despite the differences in operating systems; the Gamma settings will be realigned to show a file with the perfect contrast and brightness.
